Sabudana Thalipeeth is a popular fasting recipe, combining the goodness of sabudana (sago) with wholesome ingredients like potatoes and spices. A perfect blend of taste and nutrition!
Sabudana (soaked) Boiled potato Buckwheat flour Cumin seeds Chili powder Coriander leaves Salt to taste Ghee for frying
Soak the sabudana in water for 4-6 hours or overnight. Ensure the grains are soft but not soggy – this step is crucial for a perfect Thalipeeth!
Boil one potato until soft, peel and mash it well. This adds moisture and binding to the Thalipeeth dough, making it crispy yet soft inside.
In a bowl, mix the soaked sabudana, mashed potato, buckwheat flour, cumin, and spices. Knead into a soft dough. Adjust salt and spices to your taste!
Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each portion into a ball and gently flatten it into a round shape on a greased parchment paper or your palms. Create a hole in the center.
Heat a tawa (griddle) and drizzle some ghee. Cook the Thalipeeth on both sides until golden and crispy. You can press gently to make them crispier!
Serve your Sabudana Thalipeeth hot with a side of yogurt or green chutney. Enjoy this delicious and nutritious snack during fasting or as a tasty breakfast!
