Discover the magic of combining kidney beans (rajma) and potatoes (aloo) in this easy-to-make, flavorful Indian dish. Perfect for lunch or dinner, Rajma Aloo is a hearty meal your family will love!
Rajma (kidney beans) Potatoes Onion Tomatoes Ginger-garlic paste Cumin Coriander powder Garam masala Red chili powder Fresh coriander
Soak the rajma in water overnight or for 6-8 hours. This helps them cook faster and become soft.
Drain the soaked rajma and cook them in a pressure cooker with water for about 4-5 whistles, or until tender. Set aside.
Peel and chop the potatoes into cubes. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the potatoes until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, add oil, and sauté chopped onions until golden. Add ginger-garlic paste, pureed tomatoes, and spices. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
Add the cooked rajma and sautéed potatoes to the gravy. Stir well, add water for desired consistency, and simmer for 10-15 minutes to let the flavors blend.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice, roti, or paratha. Enjoy your delicious Rajma Aloo with your family!
