Looking for a healthy, hearty, and flavorful Indian dish? Kala Chana (black chickpeas) is a powerhouse of nutrition and taste. Here’s a quick and easy recipe you’ll love!
Kala chana (soaked overnight) Onion Tomatoes Ginger-garlic paste Turmeric Red chili Cumin Garam masala Salt Oil
Soak kala chana overnight. Next day, pressure cook it with water and a pinch of salt for 4-5 whistles until soft and cooked through.
Heat oil, sauté cumin seeds, then add onions and cook until golden. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
Add tomato puree, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates from the masala, indicating it's perfectly cooked.
Add the boiled kala chana and mix well. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Add water as needed for desired consistency.
Garnish with fresh coriander and a squeeze of lemon. Serve hot with rice, roti, or enjoy it as a protein-rich snack!
