Ingredients for Dal Fry

Yellow lentils (toor dal) Onions Tomatoes Garlic Ginger Cumin Turmeric Garam masala

Cook the Dal to Soft Perfection

Rinse the lentils and cook them in a pressure cooker with water, turmeric, and salt until soft and fully cooked.

Prepare the Tempering for Dal Fry

In a pan, heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, garlic, and ginger to create a flavorful tempering.

Add Onions & Tomatoes for Richness

Sauté onions until golden brown, then add chopped tomatoes. Cook until they soften and blend into a rich, tangy sauce.

Spice It Up with Turmeric & Garam Masala

Add turmeric, red chili powder, and garam masala to the tempering. These spices will give your dal that perfect flavor!

Mix Cooked Dal with the Spices

Add the cooked dal to the tempering mixture and simmer for a few minutes. Adjust consistency with water as needed.

Serve Your Delicious Dal Fry Hot!
