Learn to make delicious and hearty Sambar Rice, packed with veggies, lentils, and spices – all in one pot!
Toor dal (pigeon peas) Rice Mixed vegetables (carrot, beans, drumstick) Tamarind Sambar powder Mustard seeds Curry leaves Spices
Wash and pressure cook toor dal and rice together until soft. Set aside for mixing later.
In a pot, boil chopped vegetables with a bit of salt and turmeric until tender.
Add tamarind water and sambar powder to the cooked veggies. Simmer until flavors blend well.
Mix the cooked rice-dal with the sambar base. In hot oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves & hing. Pour over the rice.
Serve hot with papad, pickle, or ghee on top. A perfect meal for any time of day!
